The Osho Zen Tarot is a 79-card deck created to be a "transcendental game of Zen". Instead of predicting the future or answering questions about external events, it functions as a meditative mirror designed to anchor you in the present moment and reflect your inner state. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The deck’s key characteristics include:

The Master Card: Unlike traditional decks, it includes an extra, unnumbered "Master" card that symbolizes the ultimate transcendence of the ego and the realization of enlightenment. [1, 2]
Renamed Arcana: Traditional Rider-Waite archetypes are adapted to reflect Zen philosophy. For example, The Fool remains the same, The Magician becomes Existence, and Death becomes Transformation. [1, 2]
The Minor Arcana: The four suits correspond to the elements and are represented by intuitive symbols rather than traditional imagery:
- Fire (replaces Wands) – Action and response, following gut feelings.
- Water (replaces Cups) – The emotional, receptive, and feminine side of life.
- Clouds (replaces Swords) – The unenlightened, cluttered human mind.
- Rainbows (replaces Pentacles) – Earthly experience, wholeness, and integrating the physical.
The Court Cards: Court cards are stripped of aristocratic/feudal titles and are instead marked by simple geometric symbols (arrows) that represent opportunities to master each element.
